Eucalyptus citriodora is a member of the gum tree family. It is known by a number of different common names including the Southern Blue Gum and the Tasmanian Gum Tree. Historically, eucalyptus essential oil has been most commonly used to relieve congestion, such as during hayfever season or when suffering from the sniffles. It may be rubbed on the chest when appropriately prepared for natural relief throughout the day. However, Eucalyptus citriodora also has another common name that reveals a little more about it; namely the Lemon Scented Gum. These fruity citronella tones have also made it popular for keeping mosquitoes at bay on warm summer evenings. The Lemon Scented Gum from which our eucalyptus essential oil is derived is grown in the tropical climate of Brazil. It is extracted by steam distillation, using the leaves and young twigs of the tree. The precious oil is then gently packed into tinted glass bottles to preserve its integrity during storage and ensure maximum freshness on arrival.
